Q is a superQuick display finger. "R Q" gets it.
Currently works only on DataDiscs. DMs coming soon.
Doesn't yet handle locations of PTYs.
R Q;L shows only local MJH jobs.
A cycle of display buffers is set up. When not too many jobs are logged in
there will be only one buffer. Type an altmode to get to the next buffer
in the cycle. When the first buffer is reached again, the "FINGER" is redone
and the in core buffers updated. The buffers are also updated every 2 real
seconds.
Type any carriage return or linefeed to quit.
Q displays the current buffer every 2 real seconds; altmode gets the next
buffer. Normally, Q will display a buffer 10 times and quit, unless BRK I
is typed. Altmode re-initializes the 10 display countdown. Once BRK I is
typed, the 10 display countdown is disabled, and a 30 minute time limit
(roughly) is imposed. This limit is given precedence over the 10 display
limit until ESC I is typed, then the 10 display limit returns.
Due to its external similarity to E, DIRED etc. it has been suggested that
I extend Q in certain ways. Suggestions solicited. For instance an arrow could
be added at the left of the screen, pointing at a particular job. Then αK
would kill the job; α∃ would map to it; αF would do a FIND on the user;
αR would rename the user; αD deletes the user; αM marks the user; αA attaches
the job; αZ zeroes the users files; etc. etc.
αA now attaches the user.
Q has the personnel and room information compiled into it, so it has to
be rebuilt periodically. To rebuild Q, do the following
.AL CSP,SYS
.DO Q
Q will write FACT.FAI and ROOMS.FAI as well as SYS:Q.DMP
Q was written by Rod Brooks.
